Show Format & Set List
Barley The Ventriloquist covers the following format and set
I include a 20-minute break for outdoor events during the course of up to 4 hours performing, for vocal-resting and a toilet break.
barley the ventriloquist introduces one of a variety of her puppets to the standing and circle audience - and at walkabouts/mixes and mingles with the general public at outdoor events and outdoor venues. Barley and her puppets may be 'the welcome hosts' in the reception/foyer of indoor events and productions.
the puppet comedically responds to barley, the audience, the venue and the event!
the puppet/s perform a trick - or sings a song - or recites a silly poem - or challenge a member of the audience to a competition - or - recites a very tricky tongue-twister - just about anything is possible with barley's cast of characters!
as barley's theme for 2011 is 'clown and circus' - the puppets each perform a special 'circus act' - whilst continuing to chatter away to barley and the audience.
the puppet may also part-recites a very funny 'fairytale-in-verse' - encouraging the audience to participate and join-in.
barley takes the puppet on 'walkabout' where the puppet talks directly to the audience (mix and mingling) - and 'busking' it's responses as they meet various audience members - for example - asking questions about how they got there, what they are wearing, why they are there, etc.
the puppet usually finishes the circle act/set/walkabout by singing a comedic 'singalong' song encouraging audience participation.
barley is an award-winning childrens comedy poet and songwriter - examples of participatory songs include:
'the clockwork clown'
'ice cream & jelly'
'shine up your smile!'
