He opens his wallet and flames shoot out!
now i have your attention! .. He then pulls out a pack of cards and asks the woman sitting next to me to take one and sign it .....it is shuffled into the pack... He fires off a few amusing one-liners.. He presents a card which is not the ladys card.. Oh no, the trick has mis-fired.. He looks sheepish, throws a couple of jokes by way of apology and then takes out 2 pieces of perspex covered in rubber bands... In between the perspex is the ladys signed card!..
it is an impressive routine, performed with expert timing and an appealing sense of humour... With that, he is off to charm and amuse more guests...
paul is a comedy-magician, impressionist and singer... I catch with him again a month later when he is entertaining a group of pensioners at a christmas party... After a smattering of close-up tricks he returns to delight the audience with impressions of elvis presley, cliff richard, neil diamond, frank sinatra and john lennon...it looks so effortless and self assured...
