About Singers For Funerals:
Celebrate a life in song with singers for funerals, professional funeral singers for all types of funerals, cremations and burials.
our classically-trained singers can bring the joy and beauty of live singing to any funeral service, both as soloists, and leading the guests in the hymns if required.
all singers for funerals soloists are highly experienced opera singers, with a wide repertoire from sacred songs to modern classics. Our performing experience and flexibility enables us to sound superb in any church or crematorium, large or small, and we are also happy to discuss singing outside.
our singers are happy to perform with your organist, or use our own specially recorded accompaniments on a discreet pa system, or with our tracks hosted on the wesley music system for crematoriums.
we also liaise with your minister, organist (if any) and funeral director in advance, so everyone is aware of your musical choices, and the service runs smoothly as a result.
most of our engagements are just for one soloist, but you can book up us as a duo, trio or quartet with or without pianist, subject to availability. If you want a particular item from opera, do call us - chances are, we already know it!
fees: please note the fee quoted above is the minimum per soloist and does not include travel or agent commissions.
Show Description:
Music at a funeral offers both hope and consolation, and gives those attending a moment or two to listen and reflect. All our singers actually enjoy singing at funerals because we see, first hand, how people find comfort and happiness in hearing favourite songs or hymns, or indeed, by joining in with them too.
in a traditional church service, music can be performed as:
prelude
a welcome in music to the congregation, often performed by an organist
entrance song
performed as the funeral procession enters the church or crematorium
psalm
a psalm can be both read or sung; the most popular psalm for funerals is "the lord is my shepherd" (psalm 23)
hymns
a normal service allows time for 2 or 3 hymns, which we usually lead, just in case the congregation are shy or don't know the hymns well. Remember, you don't need to sing all the verses of a long hymn if you don't want to - shorter can be better.
song of farewell
if a 'final commendation' is to be made, this can be accompanied by an appropriate song.
recessional
a positive uplifting song, or a reflective one, or quiet organ music - your choice.
in a crematorium service, you can usually choose a wider variety of non-religious music. Most cremation services are 20 minutes long, allowing for arrival and departures, so we usually only perform a couple of items. However, if you book a longer service, we are always happy to sing more!
